  • Goal Setting Your Relationships

We hear a whole lot about how to set goals for reaching financial and career goals but have you thought about applying the same principals to your relationships.

A powerful exercise you can do is to make a list of the things you love and appreciate about your partner each night, or at times of stress in your relationship (this works with kids and teens too, in fact all friends and family).

Make a list of at least 10 things you love and appreciate in the other.

Even better is at bedtime, share those things with your partner or loved one. They may even feel inspired to reciprocate.

Another step you can take is to then set your intention for your relationship for the next day. Think of say 4 things that you positively intent for the relationship. It works best if they are things that are your area of weakness. If you are overly critical you might intend to find the good in each moment with that person. If you touch your partner less than they like, maybe you will intend to touch your partner more the next day.

Or maybe you will intend to be really present when your child speaks rather than listening half heartedly.

One day at a time is manageable.

And if you at first fail to follow through, (it is amazing the power of the pattern, often we will simply forget our intention if it challenges our habitual ways of being) then try again the next day. Every day is an opportunity to begin again afresh.

    Ignite your Social Life

Recently a friend of mine initiated a great way to make her evening turn from lonely boredom to a hive of social activity.

She sent out a text to all her friends saying, would you like to come to our place for some drinks and a spa.

Although we were quite tired my partner and I were touched by the invite and figured a quiet night with our friends would be just lovely.

When we turned up we discovered she had sent the same text to a whole bunch of friends and everyone had thought they were the only ones invited. We all had a great time and were still playing INXS at 2am as we sat in the spa.

Since then she has initiated a trip to the movies and a games night in the same way.

    Making Life Changes

If you are wanting to change your life for the better then the best way to go about it is to find a friend or some friends to do the same with you. Anything…

    • Weightloss
    • Manifesting your goals
    • Being healthy
    • Exercise
    • Being a better parent

Characteristics you want in your buddy and you want to be for your buddy

    • Positive
    • Encouraging
    • Accepting
    • Focused
    • Having a common values

It really helps if you are working on common ground. Finding a book or a CD or a website to work from and share is really great. Or if it is exercise, go to the same gym or yoga class. I joined the Gym last year and hardly went, then I convinced my girlfriend to join up at my gym and now we go 3 times a week religiously. Not only do we keep each other going but it makes it much more fun while we are there.
